Alpine Lakes Wilderness

Forecast calls for gorgeous weather this weekend, let’s go hiking!!
So many choices! Decided to give Talapus Lake a try as the trailhead is just 50 miles away and this hike has received positive reviews.

Waterfall!

Pleasant trail in good repair, not very steep πŸ™‚

Reached Talapus Lake much quicker than expected, and bit crowded on account of how easy it is to reach, so pushed on to Ollalaie Lake. Trail covered in snow in some spots-

Beautiful Ollalie Lake!

I’d have considered camping here but there was a huge group of boyscouts and I didn’t want to deal with all the noise they were sure to make… Supposed to be a limit of 12 in the Alpine Lakes backcountry but I reckon they numbered close to 30… Oh well, a couple more pictures, then pushing on to Pratt Lake πŸ™‚

Glad I pressed on, this is a gorgeous hike with a fantastic view of Mount Rainer!

Hang a right to Pratt Lake!

More snow, a bit slick in spots, nothing impassable πŸ™‚

First glimpse Pratt Lake through the trees below, with a nice looking peak in the distance-

Welcome to Pratt Lake!

Found a decent camp spot right next to the lake-

It was incredibly warm in the sun, waded out through freezing water to a nice big rock, perfect spot for a picnic!

Frogs busy laying eggs, not shy at all-

To be continued!!
