Riding the Historic Carriage Roads of Acadia National Park, Maine

Acadia’s Park Loop Road offers some amazing coastal views in the park and is a sweet ride!

Much of the one-way 27 mile Park Loop follows the Historic Carriage roads that John D. Rockefeller Jr helped create during the Great Depression in the 1920s and 1930s.

Besides the natural beauty of Mount Desert Island, the stone bridges, distinctive signs and “Rockefeller’s Teeth” made this a memorable ride.
